I especially love the raised texture of the overshot and dream of combining colors for seasons and holidays. Many times I’ve rediscovered my love for a particular craft years after I thought I was done with it. I purchased a RH loom during our NZ lockdown and I’m constantly amazed at what can be achieved on such a little loom. I am just starting out weaving, encouraged by the lovely lady who sold me my loom, so I feel like I am at a cross roads signed with all the techniques I want to try. Wow, creating such striking and varied patterns, and such wonderfully creative use of colors, with just one heddle and one pick up stick, is truly awe-inspiring!

I love that this exciting technique uses tools we already have and offers even more options to play with colour and design. I’m a professional graphic designer with a color wheel on my keychain (and in several rooms of my house). Weaving connects me with nature, cultural traditions that go back to antiquity and it calms my spirit. I love the challenge of trying something new, just as much as I love having beautiful things around our home. I think this latest book of Myra’s sounds the perfect kickstart to turn ‘knitter me’ into ‘weaver me’.

The techniques in this book are inspiring and will provide me with new techniques, color use, and methods to develop my designs. But knowing Myra and her knitting, I am anxious to try her overshot techniques since they will be explained clearly and within my scope right now. I was done with overthinking (talking myself out of projects), I warped up my RH with some handspun and millspun yarn. If you pick me for this book I will be able to make the scarf he has requested in time to surprise him for his birthday in September.

I have wanted to weave more intricate patterns but the instructions always included two heddles, pickup sticks and a heddle rod and that always deterred me from trying. I am a timid crafter, but the bold designs and color combinations Myra has designed are just breathtaking.
